ARTISTS CO-OP

The Sunrise Gallery is run as a not-for-profit organization along the lines of an artists Co-op.

Purpose

The purpose of the Sunrise Gallery Co-op is to provide an environment where local artists can

  1. share ideas
  2. create art
  3. socialize
  4. exhibit art
  5. present/attend workshops/courses
  6. learn about art
  7. educate the public about art

The Sunrise Gallery Co-op strongly supports the principles underlying the Canadian Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms.

Membership

In order to exhibit at the Gallery, artists pay an annual fee of $35 and become members of the Co-op. In subsequent years the annual membership fee is collected only when the artist exhibits at the Gallery. See our submission requirements on the Call for Submissions page for more details.

Application for membership

There are no eligibility requirements. Serious artists are encouraged to apply. We welcome supporting members also. All of our workshops and courses are open to the public. We welcome groups to be involved and use our space for meetings, poetry readings, lectures, or other events.

Four Co-op Committees

The Four Co-op Committees are democratically elected by members of the Co-op and all policies are approved by majority vote of the Executive Board and the Four Committee Chairs. Any member who wishes to be involved on a committee is welcome to.

Note that any member may attend the any of the Four Co-op Committee meetings as a non-voting member. Voting members are elected at the Annual General Meeting in November.
