Submission Procedure for Members Group Shows:
Before going to the Gallerymake sure your work is ready to display e.g. paintings are framed and have a wire securely attached. Attach a label to each work showing (i) artist name and contact info (ii) the title (iii) the medium and (iv) the price, and prepare a list of this same information. Also bring along your cheque book, date book and an information sheet (see below) and some business cards if you have them.
At the Gallery, deliver your art work to the office, then enter the information from your list onto a Group Show application form. Any membership fees in arrears will be asked to be paid at this time. You will also be asked at this time to sign up for required duties during the show. If you prefer not to perform duties, there is a $5/piece fee for submitting work.
Additional information. Please bring a one page information sheet showing biographical information, contact information and an artist statement, if you wish, and place the sheet in the “Artist’s Statements” binder in the exhibition area. Also place your business cards, if you have any, in the “photograph albums” provided.
Selection. Sometimes not all of the works submitted are exhibited due to lack of space, too many similar works, faulty framing or wiring, inability to find a location on the wall where it displays well with the other paintings etc. etc. Difficult decisions like this need to be made by Exhibition Committee volunteers for every show and we ask that members accept these decisions graciously.
Please note the pick-up date and if you can't make it please arrange with a friend to pick-up your unsold artwork at the end of the show. Your fees will be adjusted at the time of pick-up to reflect any sales of work (sold work is subject to a 20% commission).
